The way that we discovered ferrets is because of Mathieu’s allergies to cats and dogs. When he was young, he wanted an animal. For many years, he was sad that he could not get one. One day, while going to the pet shop to buy a fish, he saw a ferret and asked his mom if he could hold it. He fell in love with ferrets and his parents decided to buy him one. Many, many years later, Mathieu transmited his love for ferrets to his girlfriend, Karina. This is where our journey began.
We are a young couple that lives in Montréal, Québec. We are studying at the University of Montréal in Nutrition and Kinesiology. Our first language is French (so pardon us if our english isn’t perfect). We moved together in an appartment in June 2018. After only one week, we went to buy our first ferret, Coconut, in a pet shop (we regret, don’t do that, go to ferret shelters or SPCA). He lived in a small cage (he grew as small as a baby ferret, like his first cage, mmhh). We quickly saw that loneliness overwhelmed him. In December 2018, we saw an incredibly cute ferret on Kijiji, it was love at first sight (and almost Christmas). So, we did one hour and a half of bus to go get him and a bigger cage. Even though they are both males, they quickly got along and became the best friends in the world. In March 2019, we created our Instagram page, because we wanted to share our ferreted life with the world and we wanted to make this wonderful animal known. The fact that was had some experience with photography and Instagram made our page skyrocket. After only one month, we reached 1500 followers. We started to receive more and more questions about ferrets, so we decided to start a blog to share our experiences and knowledge about ferrets to everyone that is interested about this fuzzy animal. Sit back, relax, and dook dook.
